Here are the complete contents of my carry on suitcase. These contents will amount to 14 outfits over the next 7 days, into 3 cities.
Three button down shirts, two pairs of blue jeans, two sweaters, two t-shirts, one pair of khakis, a skirt, a dress and beaded breast plate. (On the plane I wore a long sleeve tee, another sweater, red stretchy pants and a fringe jacket).
The shoes include two closed flats, one pair of sandals and two pairs of short heels. Maybe two pairs of blue jeans was excessive.
Carry on suitcase outfit #001
wore this on walking tour de Paris day one, where I clocked 26,000 steps in flat t-strap sandals. This is also the only coat I brought, but the reason I included 3 sweaters and button downs in my luggage is to layer and come up w creative ways to not wear it every single day. For a good fringe jacket edit, visit the post from two weeks ago
Carry on suitcase look #002
For dinner on night 1. I wore this H&M shirt on the plane, layered over a long sleeve t-shirt and crew neck sweater.
Carry on suitcase outfit #003
Full denim look with mesh sock shoes. Clocked 24,299 steps in this. I hope my knees don’t give out on me. Focus item here is the belt. Bringing a good one or two adds a lot but takes up minimal space.
Here’s what #003 looked like with outerwear
A scarf can do a million things for a look!
Carry on outfit #004
Accessories make a dif! And are easy to pack. Tonight look includes: shirt I wore under 2 layers on airplane (and yesterday to walk around), Soeur khakis, Doen slippers I wore last night too, another belt (easy to pack) and a very dramatic neck piece? Choker? Scarf? All three?

Also an easy pack, but bitch of a thing to store at home. What would you call this a scarf? Necklace? Choker? It gives a lot of life to a grey tee and khakis.

Carry on look #005
White t-shirt layered under blue shirt and red sweater with same jeans worn yday and the mesh slippers from yday. Didn’t walk as much today
Carry on outfit #006
A sheer dress with high waist black under and a bra (which I do plan to wear as a top in milan!) plus sheer socks and blue suede loafer slipper things. The downside to this outfit is that I was too cold to walk home from The Marais, which means I only clocked like 10k steps on my last day in FRONCE.
Carry on outfit #007
Somewhere along the way, there was a 7th outfit in Paris. Here’s the fringe jacket under a Bode breast plate, with the same khakis I wore last night. They are good with this jacket! It’s a happy accident, and surprisingly walkable sandals. Not 30k steps, but pretty good.
Carry on outfit #008
Wore khakis and a sweater on flight and then changed into this in the bathroom at my hotel
for first day in Milan where I did not clock nearly as many steps but saw way more people. Stayed in it through the night but changed shoes. First impression is: it’s a friendly village!

#008 shoe detail
These are the shoes I changed into, from La Double J. Very good foil to thick socks too because of the fabric (lamé) and ankle strap. I have been developing an ankle strap theory of late. They look more right, than a completely open foot! Even if an open foot is more elongating for the leg.

Carry on outfit #009
75 and sunny in Milan today and drinking the kool aid. Heading to Coop Alice’s facility right outside of Milan, where the incarcerated women who were employed to make the dresses for a collaboration launching between me and La Double J (feather hem apron dresses!!), are making the dresses. Will spend afternoon walking through neighborhood where my mom grew up. This is only the second time I’ve been to Milan and first impression is: comfortable.
